ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT

What Is Botox®?

Botox® is the brand name of a Neurotoxin made by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is a protein-based medication which is frequently used to alleviate signs of ageing.

How Does It Work?

When injected into a muscle, Botox® halts its contractions and movement (such as a frown), preventing the formation of lines and wrinkles. Additionally, it has the ability to soften existing lines, rejuvenating the face for a more youthful appearance.

The effects typically last 3 to 4 months, after which the treatment needs to be repeated to maintain the look.

Botox® injections have also been used to:

  • Smooth and reduce the overall dimpled effect on the chin

  • Relieve grinding and clenching

  • Reduce a nose flare

See below for more.

Lip Flip

Botox® is injected into the muscles around the lip, this injection helps to relax the muscles which will cause the top lip to lift upward, creating the illusion of fuller lips. The effects of a lip flip are subtle and natural looking.

Gummy smile

Botox® is used to relax the elevator muscles around the upper lip. Meaning when smiling the lip will not raise dramatically, exposing the gum and reducing the “gummy smile”.

Downturn Smile

Botox® is used to relax the muscle's action, allowing the corners of the mouth to lift. When we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin. The natural loss alongside the weakening of facial muscles can lead to dropping mouth corners and a downturn smile. Often making a person look sad even when they aren’t.

Nasal flare/slimming and tip lift

Botox® is used for nasal flare reduction as it keeps the nostrils from flaring during facial expression, giving a slimmer appearance to the nose. It can also be used to keep the nasal tip from drooping when smiling.

Pebbled chin

Botox® works by relaxing the mentalis muscle beneath the chin, reducing its activity. This prevents the muscle from causing the skin to dimple, thus smoothing out the texture of the chin.

Masseter

Botox® is used in the masseter muscles to slim the jaw and reduce the appearance of a square, bulky jawline. It can also help relieve pain and tension in the jaw, and treat teeth grinding and clenching.

Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) -

Botox® is used to temporarily block the nerve signals responsible for activating sweat glands. When injected into the area of excessive sweating, such as the underarms. Botox®  prevents the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that triggers sweat production.

Neck lift/Platysma Bands

Botox® is injected into the platysma muscle, relaxing it and reducing the prominence of neck bands. This technique not only smooths the neck area but also lifts and defines the jawline, creating a rejuvenated and sculpted look similar.

Trapezius Tox

Botox® is used in the trapezius muscle to temporarily weaken it and relax it, providing relief from pain as well as a slimmer, elongated neck appearance.

Frown

Botox® for frown lines works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause the lines between your eyebrows, often referred to as “11 lines” or “frown lines.” These lines form due to repeated muscle contractions when you frown, squint, or make other facial expressions.

Forehead

Botox® for forehead lines works similarly to how it treats frown lines. It targets the muscles responsible for the horizontal lines across your forehead, which typically form from repetitive movements like raising your eyebrows.

Crows Feet

Botox® is used to target the small muscles around the outer corners of the eyes that cause the characteristic wrinkles when you smile or squint. These lines, known as crows feet, form from repeated facial movements over time.

Brow Lift

Botox® is used to lift and shape the eyebrows. The treatment works by relaxing specific muscles that may be pulling the brow downward, and by stimulating the muscles that lift the brow.

Bunny Lines

Botox® for bunny lines targets the muscles on the sides of the nose, which cause the small wrinkles or “bunny lines” that appear when you scrunch or wrinkle your nose.
